Peering Down on Venus

The European Space Agency’s Venus Express spacecraft successfully entered into orbit around the planet Venus early this morning. The craft will take another 4 weeks to move into its final orbit around the 2nd rock. The craft is scheduled to perform observations of the structure, chemistry and dynamics of the atmosphere of Venus for at least two Venusian days (486 Earth days).
