Io’s Tvashtar volcano

The New Horizons spacecraft returned what is arguably the most amazing volcanic image ever taken, that of the Tvashtar volcano on Jupiter’s moon Io. Seen here is Io, caught in mid-eruption, with a volcanic plume that is larger and far more detailed than any previously imaged. Checkout Science@NASA for more details.
