M31 - Spiral Galaxy in Andromeda

M31 as imaged by Don Brown M31, the most distant object visible to the unaided eye, is a grand spiral galaxy in the constellation Andromeda.  Believed to be similar in appearance to our own Milky Way Galaxy, M31 is a member of the Local Group of galaxies, of which the Milky Way, M32, M33, and M110 (among others) are members.
