Leonid 2001 Meteor Gallery
This was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
Peak rates were in the neighborhood of 1000 meteors per hour.
by play" review of the event. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy the following
images. I took most of these using an old Olympus OM-1 with a 28mm lens and Fuji
800 film.

This image was sent in by Mike Biesele
-- he took it down in Moab, UT.
It's a 12 second exposure through a 35mm lens at f/2. You can view more of
Mike's
meteor pictures if you like. |
The
next few are mine.
Here's
a nice meteor shooting just below the big dog...Sirius. Orion is to the
upper right. Actually, my meteor is only a couple of degrees to the north
of Mike's. Notice how I've claimed ownership already :) |
Next up is a nice meteor headed straight
for Orion |
Finally,
I decided to take a 10 minute exposure centered on Polaris. This was taken
earlier in the night...otherwise it would have been filled with meteors. |
