Images Observations News Utah Skies Home
The radiant of the Perseid meteor shower as created by Gary Kronk The Orionids are one of the lesser known meteor showers arriving during the middle part of October. Orionid meteors are remnants of Comet Halley.

The radiant of the Orionids meteors is in the north eastern portion of the constellation Orion (hence the shower's name), near the border with the constellation Gemini.

Visible from Oct 18-23, the Orionids currently peak on October 20/21, with the morning of the 21st between midnight and dawn being best time to observe.  Expect to see up to 15 meteors per hour.

Check out Gary Kronk's Comets & Meteor Showers Perseids page for more great info.
